How to Buy: Moses Basket Review

Moses Basket
A Moses Basket is the most charming first bed for your newborn baby.

  • Make sure the Moses Basket has tightly woven material - no loose pieces of rattan.

  • Make sure the basket does not have any odor or mildew that may naturally since Moses baskets are woven of natural materials.

  • Ensure the handles are tightly woven and secured to the basket. You should never carry your baby in the Moses basket, the basket should still have sturdy handles.

  • The Moses basket should have a one piece liner ( with or without paded sides) to protect the infant from the Moses basket material. The liner should tie or attach securely in multiple places so it does not sag.

  • The mattress pad should be 1 inch thick no more and fits the basket exactly.

  • If the basket has a hood, it should adhere to the basket securely or be integrated into the base of the Moses basket. It should not interfere with you safely placing and removing the bay from the basket.

Bought a Moses Basket stand with the same picture and approximate price from Mosesbaskets.com - a total piece of junk. Dowel flimsy and broke on installation. Rickety. Wish we could return it but company has no return policy. Be careful!

Yes, I saw this stand too, I think Jolly rocker or some name like that (same picture) and 'junk' is a perfect description. I bought a Rockers By Richard Rocking Stand online and it is SO WELL MADE and top quality. I used it for our baby, and my brother and sister also used it for their babies and it is definitely heirloom quality. The babies will probably even use it for their babies when they grow up, it's definitely that sturdy. We love it!
